4 Ingredients to Keep Your Skin Moisturized
In this age of the internet and social media, people constantly see ads for hydrating, “natural” skincare products. A closer look at ingredient lists almost always reveals harmful chemicals, preservatives, and, more often than not, things that will cause your skin to dry out even more than it was to begin with. There are so many incredible natural ingredients that can be used for skin hydration, and general health, that we swear by here at Gifts From The Earth.
Olive oil
Although it may seem counterintuitive to put olive oil on your skin, it actually helps to remove makeup, dirt, and toxins from your skin without stripping its’ natural oils. Our Earthly Dreams Cleansing Oil is a lovely olive oil based makeup remover that leaves skin feeling very smooth, happy, and clean. Olive oil can also be used for dry heals, diaper rash, cradle cap, eczema, and cuticle care!
Cocoa butter
Cocoa butter is a wonderful moisturizer for extremely dry skin because it is naturally absorbed and stays in the skin for many hours. Many people (like us!) enjoy using cocoa butter, sometimes mixed with essential oils, as a natural lip balm. Also, because cocoa butter is a natural oil extracted from the cocoa bean, it contains the same heart health & cognitive function antioxidants that are found in real, dark chocolate.
Avocado oil
Avocado oil is an extremely rich moisturizer containing high levels of vitamin E, antioxidants, and fatty acids. It can be used to hydrate and soften anyone’s skin, but it is especially useful for clearing up acne, blackheads, eczema, and other skin inflammation issues. Avocado oil is also used for preventing and clearing up age spots and smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles, which is why we use it as a base in our Forever Young Luscious Lotion! Because it is so rich, it is recommended as a nighttime moisturizer; apply to your skin after washing your face and you will wake up with wonderfully smooth skin!
Coconut oil
Not only is coconut oil moisturizing, it is also antibacterial, antifungal, and it has its’ own natural scent! There are countless ways in which coconut oil can be used on our bodies; soothing dry hands, pseudo shave gel, deep hair conditioner, face washing, massage, and all over hydration. We love the smooth, natural feeling of coconut oil, especially in our Luscious Lotion.
