As another wonderful year begins, we take time to reflect on where we are in this moment. Gifts From the Earth wouldn’t be where we are today without all of our beautiful clients who have worked with us to discover the joy and benefits of natural skincare! That being said, as it is the beginning of a new year, we feel it is the perfect time to introduce ourselves to all of our new friends, reintroduce ourselves to those who have been with us from the beginning, and give a little of our background to those who may be considering switching to natural beauty products!

Over 25 years ago, Marianne Wilson Stein realized that there were no beauty products available that she felt comfortable sharing with her young daughter because of the ingredients they contained. Years later, after much research, meditation, thought, and many consultations with skincare professionals, Gifts From the Earth was born! Marianne has the unwavering belief that what we put on our skin is just as important as what we put in our bodies, and that is the inspiration for all GFTE products. For more than 10 years she has been utilizing all natural ingredients to create and provide quality, customized skincare products that truly nourish the body and soul.

About Marianne:

Marianne grew up in the Portland metro area, met her husband, Steve, when she was 21 years old. She married Steve a few years later and at 27 years old had her daughter Katherine. By trade, Marianne was an interior designer and knew that she had a greater responsible and a greater calling. It was around this time that the plants and plant energy began speaking to Marianne. Her sister, Tiffany, started her nail salon and was looking for products. This is when the magic started to happen. Marianne found she had a knack for herbal infusions and all things skin care. Gifts From the Earth was officially born!

A few years later, Marianne met Jewelz, an Esthetician and magical soul sister working in Portland. Together, they worked on developing the facial line, since those start up days it has grown and adjusted to our clients needs.

Marianne loves her little dog, Karli, her cats, Josie and Sammi. She lives with her husband of almost 30 years and their 20-year-old son, Adam. Adam does all the product photography on the website.

When not working, Marianne loves hiking, gardening, crafting and hanging out with family and friends. She also loves all things magical!

Her favorite facial products are the Forever Young Luscious Lotion, which was the first product she ever created! It has been tweaked since it’s inception, making it better and more luscious. Her favorite body care product is the Luscious Lotion, the best body lotion ever created. Every so often, Marianne tests other product lines, nothing comes close to the healing energy in the products she creates!

About Katherine:

Katherine is responsible for our blog posts and our social media, and she just so happens to be Marianne’s daughter! She's 26 years old and currently lives in Philadelphia managing a brewery in Audubon, PA called Bald Birds Brewing (though she's determined to move back to the great PNW as soon as possible!!). She's also a musician, having attended The University of the Arts for jazz piano, has been in a few successful rock bands, teaches kids part time, and now works as musical director for a local theatre company called Raw Street Productions. 

She loves animals (especially her kitties and pup back home), hiking, being outdoors, spending time with friends, and cooking!

Katherine feels so, so lucky to have grown up with such an awesome mom who spoils me with awesome skincare. She has used Gifts From the Earth products for as long as she can remember, and because of it she has had almost zero skin problems – except, of course, for the mild acne breakouts that came with being a teenager. 

Her favorite body product is the Relax, Honey Scrub - she uses it a few times a week and before shaving. Her favorite face product (aside from all of the scrubs and cleansers!) is the Everyday Face Lotion. She was so afraid of moisturizing as a teenager because she was convinced it would make her look greasy, but she hasn't found anything better than this super light face lotion. And, of course, she loves our Ta-too Balm. Every time she visits home, her and her brother get new tattoos together, and the balm helps the healing process tremendously. It can also be used on boo boos, she particularly enjoy using it after having her eyebrows waxed to help with the skin reaction. Choosing favorites is not easy, though. She love Gifts From the Earth!!

About Peg:

Peg started working for Gifts From the Earth a few years ago, selling the products at the Vancouver Farmers Market. Peg just happens to be Jewelz mom!

Early on, Peg put skincare first, even when money was tight her skin care routine was important and took center stage. For the past 8 years Peg has used the Gifts From the Earth facial moisturizers exclusively. Her skin looks beautiful and radiant.

Peg has lived in the Pacific Northwest most of her life, since age 4. She loves her dogs, has raised 5 children and now has 11 grandchildren. She loves to garden and read. Peg loves talking with people and hearing their stories, loves to write and has a lifelong love of learning. Stop by to see her at the market during the season!
